Vivacious EasylifeIT™ TechTalk at Peterborough Museum

What did the Romans do for us?; a thought provoking backdrop for the latest EasylifeIT™ TechTalk.

Peterborough Museum was an excellent and inspiring choice of venue for our latest informal discussion around Trojan horses and other such threats to your business IT infrastructure.

Presented by Lindsey Hall, Managing Director of EasylifeIT™; Cybersecurity for Small Business was the talking point; with a short briefing and an open discussion about what can be done to protect their business and the best way to do so from such threats varying from viruses to malware. The relaxed format allowed those who attended to take away some relevant tips and advice to practically introduce into their businesses.

Lindsey commented; “The key message we want people to take away is that just having an antivirus is not enough! There is no technological silver bullet and no amount of security product which will compensate for carelessness or lack of staff training. Education is absolutely key”

She continued; “We would very much like to thank Peterborough Museum who as well as providing excellent facilities also kindly arranged a private tour afterwards of what is an often overlooked gem in our city^.

Attendees today were unanimous in their appreciation of the unique and relaxed format of the TechTalk series and the advice and information they could take away. Comments included:

“A really good event; perfect timing and very informative” – Hazel Cottrell

“Lindsey Hall @easylifeIT @YourTechTalks, giving a very interesting & informative #TechTalks earlier @Vivacity_Museum” – Ashley Briggs (Twitter)

“Thoroughly enjoyed it, albeit a scary subject (buts that reality)” Judith Goode

“It was an eye opener for me having been a Mac user for over 15 years to learn viruses are increasingly being targeted at all popular hardware, not just the PC” Steve Pretsell

EasylifeIT™ TechTalks Print and Protect-IT

We have seen a significant uplift in virus and malware incidents these past few weeks; the vast majority circumventing antivirus protection via user interactions with the internet and email.

As part of our TechTalks events on Cyber Security we have produced several documents relating to this issue and stress the importance of providing information to users on the front line to help them avoid infections.

To that end, please find below links to 2 documents which you may use as you think best. While we cant hope to be comprehensive on a single page; these cautions account for the majority of issues we have seen recently. The links below download documents created by myself and hosted on our own website.

Coming up! EasylifeIT™ Tech Talk in April 2015

The next of our successful EasylifeIT™ TechTalks is on the 16th April 2015 and hosted by Peterborough Museum in Priestgate.

A series of interactive sessions for business professionals to discuss what IT challenges they face on a daily basis. This will be extremely beneficial for you as "Cybersecurity for Small Business" offers advice on combating security issues and putting safeguards in place to prevent problems from reoccurring.

You are invited to join Lindsey Hall, an established speaker on IT security and an IT professional of 20 years standing. She will be discussing the relevant and hugely important subject of Cybersecurity.

This is an especially "hot" topic at the moment; Lindsey will take you through the risks, the myths and the necessary precautions a small business needs to consider.

Our unorthodox venues offer the opportunity for you to see a side of business your unlikely to see again, whilst the TechTalk will allow you to have the liberty to gain knowledge on aspects of IT and how it could benefit and protect your operations. There will be no sales or product pitches, just short and punchy discussion.

Latest EasylifeIT™ TechTalk percolates IT security success

As technology becomes hugely influential to businesses across the country, it doesn’t mean that most understand the rights and wrongs. Lindsey Hall from EasylifeIT™ recently hosted another successful event in the TechTalk series at the Masteroast Coffee Training Centre in Fengate on the 11th of February; which was attended by local small businesses.

TechTalks are a series of bi-monthly discussion based events where Lindsey briefs on the latest IT challenges businesses face on a daily basis. The aim is to help, educate and inform with no product pitches,  introducing you into different and interesting venues whilst learning something new.

Cybersecurity for Small Business was the talking point at this TechTalk; briefing and then discussing with other businesses about what they can do to protect their business and the best way to do so from such things as viruses to malware. The interactive and relaxed format allowed those who attended to take away some real tips and advice to enforce into their businesses.

The event was received very well. "I learnt some interesting things that I can pass onto our team" said Vikki Mason of Helping Hands, and Linda Hayman of Blue River Coaching commented “Loved the presentation; it captured my imagination. Practical, relevant and great expertise”

Lindsey Hall, MD of EasylifeIT and presenter on the day stated; “Most businesses believe that just having an antivirus is enough; it is not! There is no technological silver bullet and no amount of security product which will compensate for carelessness or lack of staff training. Education is absolutely key
