Chrome; Google’s popular browser, now blocks plugin support for Java and Silverlight with their latest release 42. Although there is a workaround for the short term, even that ceases in September 2015
While we have some sympathy for the stated reason; as even up to date Java has been a security and stability headache for some time, this move will likely alienate many who have to use websites still dependent on Java especially. Owners of legacy websites may also find that Chrome users may not be able to use their site as intended.
