Cyber Essentials (CE) is a government-backed cyber security certification scheme that sets out a baseline of cyber security suitable for all organisations. The scheme’s five security controls can prevent “around 80% of cyber-attacks”. Developed as part of the UK’s National Cyber Security Programme and in close consultation with industry, it provides businesses with clarity on good cyber-security practice.
James Allison and Lindsey Hall are both Accredited Cyber Essentials (ACE) Practitioners who can assist organisations in meeting the standard.
Increasingly, especially if you deal with national or local government departments, you will be expected to have this certification to demonstrate that your own systems meet an acceptable security baseline and can protect not only your own systems but also those of your customers. It can also assist with GDPR compliance, providing useful disciplines which can help to safeguard data and prevent breaches.
